Day 24 Session 12 – Easing back into it…
Cryo & arthritis study
One of the main reasons I have started using cryotherapy is for the treatment of my inflammation and joint pain on my left hand, I have signs of possibly the beginnings of arthritis. The good news is, there have been many studies conducted on cryotherapy & arthritis that show a marked improvement. A recent study using cryotherapy on osteoarthritis patients showed the following results:
- a reduction in the frequency and degree of pain perception
- reduction in the number of analgesic medications
- improvement in the range of physical activity
OMG…it’s been 2 weeks since the start of the Herxheimer’s reaction from over-doing the cryo sessions & I finally feel like I’ve turned the corner!
It’s been a bit of a rough two weeks…feeling lethargic, totally brain fogged all day, my joint pain has felt worse than normal and it’s just been hard to do anything.
During this time I’ve cut back on all therapies so that I don’t push the reaction further into detox and I went to 2 cryo sessions last week where I kept things at 90 seconds & only – 100 Celsius. I did that last Monday & felt a bit worse on the Tuesday. I went back on Wednesday morning & again felt worse Thursday so I rescheduled my Friday appointment to Saturday but then realised, I should still hold back, so I waited until this morning’s session to attend again.
I woke up finally feeling, not 100%, but definitely better than the past 2 weeks.
The rest of the day was OK & I did a lot. Let’s hope that I’m back on track & get the experiment going full steam again!
I hope you enjoy this experiment & of course, please feel free to get in contact to ask questions or even to share your own stories.
